지난 6월 1일 시상식을 차린 제14회 ‘열린아동문학상’ 은 차영미(동시 부문) 선생과 윤미경(동화 부문) 선생이 받았다.
차영미 선생은 《열린아동문학》 2023년 봄호에 발표한 동시 「너머」로, 윤미경 선생은 겨울호에 발표한 동화 「사거리반점 을숙씨」로 수상했다.
수상작 후보 추천은 예년과 마찬가지로 《열린아동문학》의 편집위원, <열린아동문학상> 기 수상자, 전년도 계평자 등 동시 부문에 열다섯 분, 동화 부문에 열아홉 분이 참여했으며, 동시는 23편, 동화는 16편이 추천되었다.
 
박선미 심사위원장은 ‘동시 「너머」는 우리가 익히 알고 있는 떠남과 깨달음의 과정을 10연에 걸쳐 묘사한 길이가 긴 시임에도 적절한 반복과 음운 배치로 리드미컬하게 읽혔으며, “무지개가 걸려있는 곳”을 찾아 길을 떠난다는 표현은 환상의 미를 접할 수도 있지만, 자칫 잘못하면 진부하게 느껴질 수도 있는데 마지막 연에서 독백 형식의 표현을 통해 깊은 울림을 주었다’고 심사평을 썼다.
동화 부문 수상작 「사거리반점 을숙씨」는 ‘자연스러운 문장과 전개가 독자들에게 읽는 재미를 주면서 마음껏 뛰놀 시간이 부족한 오늘날 어린이들을 구해 내고 싶은 작가의 마음이 전해져오고, 깨달음과 성장을 가져온 해피엔딩에 기분 좋게 웃을 수 있는 훈훈한 작품’이라고 평했다.
차영미 선생은 2001년 《아동문학평론》에 동시가 당선되어 작품 활동을 시작했으며, 동시집 『학교에 간 바람』, 『막대기는 생각했지』, 『으라차차 손수레』 등을 펴내 이주홍문학상, 최계락문학상 등을 받았다. 최근에는 수상작이 포함된 새 동시집 『모험을 떠나는 단추로부터』를 펴냈다.
윤미경 선생은 2012년 황금펜아동문학상과 무등일보 신춘문예 동화 당선으로 등단해 2019년 MBC창작동화대상 장편 대상을 수상하고 『달팽이도 멀미해』, 『얼룩말무늬를 신은 아이』 , 『빨간 구두 춘맹 씨』, 『커다랗고 작은』 등 30여 권의 동화집과 그림책을 펴냈다.

6월 1일 오후 2시부터 시작한 시상식은 정오가 지나면서부터 숲이 북적였다. 두 수상자가 서울과 광주에서 각각 전세버스를 띄우고, 12시를 전후해 고성시외버스터미널에 도착하는 버스에는 동동숲 손님들로 가득했다. 알게 모르게 ‘고성 맛집’이 된 터미널 식당도 덩달아 붐볐다.
시상식 전날 1차 포장을 끝낸 터골-방화골 간 새 도로는 대형버스가 드나드는 데 불편이 없었다. 고성군의 배려와 송정욱 동동숲작은도서관 관장의 애간장 덕분이다. 부산아동문학인협회(회장 박선미) 회원들이 일찍부터 이름표와 식순, 에드뷰코리아(대표 김대동)에서 제공한 화장품, 동화작가 김나월 선생이 수상자를 위해 준비해 온 축하 떡을 나누어 주었고, 동화작가 안덕자 선생은 방화골 주민이 기르고 제작한 머윗대와 구지뽕청을 대신 판매해 주었다. 

올해도 황미숙, 이둘자, 유영주 선생이 각종 차를 대접했다. 이둘자 선생은 화관과 꽃다발, 수상자 나무 리본을 재능기부도 했다. 2박 3일 가사도우미를 자청한 사단법인 국제생활공예연합회 회원들도 예쁘고 앙증스러운 소품들을 판매해 하얗게 꽃피운 산딸나무로 환한 마당을 더욱 환하게 했다. 원로 동시인 신현득 선생이 축사를 하고, 매년 아름다운 그림으로 상장을 만들어 주는 윤문영 화백이 참석해 전국에서 모인 160여 아동문학가들을 흐뭇하게 한 시상식은 사단법인 동시동화나무의숲 박형섭 사무국장이 진행하는 경품 추천에 이르러 절정에 달했다. 

자정향실 이용권을 비롯한 26종 200여 개의 경품은 푸른 날개를 달고 주인을 찾아갔다. 특히 부산의 동화작가 김영호 선생의 사촌 동생 김영국님이 면장으로 있는 마암면에서는 제승호, 정대옥 대표가 직접 재배한 파프리카와 방울토마토를 협찬해 박수를 받고, 구수한 아침밥을 지어준 송화꿩가든 백옥현 대표는 어간장 세트를 협찬했다.
버스 두 대가 와서 자고 가는 분들은 적었지만 6월 1일의 밤은 뜻있는 아동문학가 네 분이 장만해 준 노래방 기기 때문에 흥겹게 흘러갔다.
수상자 차영미 선생 나무는 2018년 겨울호 ‘이 계절에 심은 동시나무’ 산목련(함박꽃나무)이고, 윤미경 선생 나무는 동화의 스승인 이성자 선생 나무가 있는 글샘 옆 수국밭에 있는 참나무다. 특히 올해는 부산의 부산일보와 국제신문에서 취재해 넓은 지면을 마련해 주었다.
